An easy DIY PDF Leather pattern and tutorial for a Better Laptop Bag or, a Medium Messenger Style Bag, or Satchel.

The PDF file has a link to a video tutorial, so you can see how to get setup and how I put it together.
(just in case the link in the PDF doesn't work: https://youtu.be/j8P53jvcJHo )

This is similar to other laptop bag style patterns out there, likely because most have common elements; strap closures, a handle, a shoulder strap, etc., but I designed this one to be better; longer lasting, easy to put together, hand-stitch, an overall better product.
Measurements, other than stitching, were done in inches since I'm in the U.S. and have easier access to hardware sized in inches. This leather bag can hold a 15" laptop plus charger, books, and paperwork (it has a couple of internal pockets for paperwork and stuff.

Size of finished product: approximately 15 inches wide x 12 inches tall (not including handle) x 3.5 inches deep
I recommend using a medium weight leather for the whole thing. (5-6oz.)
I ended up using maybe 8 sq. ft of leather.
Pattern is set up for using a 1mm or 1.5mm punching hole, with 6mm spacing.
The shoulder straps are 1.5 inch wide, so you'll need a 1.5 inch buckle.
The closure straps that go around the satchel are 1.25 inches with 1.25 inch buckles. You could easily use 1 inch straps and buckles you want to.
The D-rings I used are 1 inch.
