Leather Laptop Case - DIY PDF and Tutorial - Leather Messenger Style Bag Pattern - Leather Laptop Bag template - Leather Satchel

This is a pattern for a large Laptop Case. Also known as a Satchel, you can fit a 17" gaming laptop inside, and still have room for books, hard drives, headphones, mouse, etc. This laptop pattern, also known as a Messenger Style Bag, is made with a single shoulder strap.

This may look like other leather messenger bag patterns out there, likely because most have a top opening, a handle, a shoulder strap, strap and buckle enclosures, etc. I took inspiration from several others seen on youtube and designed this one to be strong, easy to put together, hand-stitch, and have a great finished product.
Measurements, other than stitching, were done in inches since i'm in the U.S. and have easier access to hardware sized in inches.

Size of finished product: approximately 17 inches wide x 12.5 inches tall (not counting the handle) x 3.5 inches deep
I recommend using a medium weight leather for the body and a bit thicker for the straps. There's a lot of leather used in this pattern, so plan on using 12-13 sq. ft. If you don't have enough of one color, you can do like I did and use a complimentary color on some of the pieces.
Pattern is set up for using a 1mm or 1.5mm punching hole, with 6mm spacing.
The straps are 1 inch wide, so you'll need a 1 inch buckle.
The D-rings and swivel hooks/clasps I used are 1 inch.

So, in your print settings, choose the correct paper size and also select the "actual size" setting
